Hawes & Curtis Unveils Exclusive Collection Inspired By The Great Gatsby
October 13th, 2020 (London) --British heritage brand Hawes & Curtis is proud to announce that it is the official style partner to The Great Gatsby, the longest-running immersive theatre production in the UK, which re-opened in a socially distanced manner on 1 October. Olivier Award winning producers Louis Hartshorn and Brian Hook re-imagined and re-set the production as an Art Deco Masquerade Ball, with audience members wearing compulsory face coverings to complement their fabulous attire.
To celebrate this partnership, Hawes & Curtis has curated a capsule collection inspired by 1920s fashion from The Great Gatsby. The elegant collection evokes the golden era of men’s tailoring and combines classic designs with contemporary styling. Exquisitely tailored three-piece suits and traditional Jermyn Street shirts steal the show, whilst heritage print silk ties and refined accessories add a sartorial flourish to the collection.
Specialising in luxury shirts and fine tailoring since 1913, Hawes & Curtis has been a favourite for 1920s style icons including Fred Astaire and The Duke of Windsor. Hawes & Curtis famously designed the renowned Windsor collar especially for him.
For the first time, a fashion shoot was held at the location featuring a model wearing Hawes & Curtis’ collection inspired by the timeless style of the 1920s.
Hawes & Curtis CEO Touker Suleyman said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Great Gatsby. Having served 1920s style icons, this classic production truly resonates with our brand. Our carefully considered collection illustrates our brand’s longstanding heritage. 1920s fashion has never been so current.”
Producers Louis Hartshorn and Brian Hook said "Jay Gatsby is one of the most fashionable, enigmatic and best-dressed characters in literature, and a sharp 1920s aesthetic is at the heart of our design of The Great Gatsby - and we love seeing our audience members enjoying discovering just how fabulous Jazz Age attire was. We can't think of a better partner for our show than Hawes & Curtis - and we look forward to a long and stylish collaboration."
The collection is available to purchase online.
